Camping Information

Public campgrounds are for people who really like getting back to nature. Some campsites are termed primitive; only providing pit toilets . Others are called wilderness sites and include potable water, campfire rings and outhouses. Family sites offer flush toilets, cabins, yurts , shelters and lean-tos . Public campgrounds are usually the least expensive. Private campgrounds offer more amenities, including hook-ups, restrooms and possibly a convenience store. Camping at Wharton and Canoeing at Micks

Whether your group is Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or just family and friends, and you want a weekend of camping and boating − Micks can help. Rent canoes and kayaks for two or more consecutive days and receive a discount. Call or stop by the store for more details.

Rent four or more canoes or kayaks and stay at the Bodine Field campsite which is located on the Wading River in the Wharton State Forest and we'll come and pickup your group and take everyone up river to Hawkin Bridge. All you have to do is enjoy your 4¾ hour trip back to your campsite.
