INFORMATION ON CAMPING IN THE WHARTON STATE FOREST
- All camping in the Wharton State Forest is by permit only and
only in authorized designated camping areas.
No permits are needed for canoe trails unless you camp
overnight.
For group camping on the west Branch of the Wading River,
there are Hawkins Bridge and Bodine Field Campsites. For family camping there is
Godfrey Bridge Campsite.
Wood and/or charcoal fires are allowed by permit only, and
only in designated camping areas. Permits are not necessary for gas or propane stoves.
Pets are not allowed in any overnight campsite.
Camping and fire permits and additional information can be
obtained at the Wharton State Forest located in the Visitors Center at Batsto.
